About

With this project, I wanted design a planter that had a bit of the "IKEA" effect. IE: something that has more value because you are an integral part of it. In this case, you have to put it together. As the project progressed the main focus shifted towards this ideology. A byproduct of this was that the manufacturing was extremely simple - only requiring a CNC router.

Design

At first the design started with a much more traditional box construction - the simplest form of DIY construction. However, this would require tools in order to assemble. The logical solution ended up being some form of friction pin that would hold everything together.

Assembly

Each product comes pre cut, leaving the most enjoyable part for the user. Simply stack each part on top of the next, using the stainless steel pins as a guide. Once assembled, you can plant something or use it as a desk organizer, paint it, make it yours.
